Allison Polans is a folk and soul singer, songwriter, guitarist and music event producer based in Philadelphia, PA
Allison Polans has been performing with Philadelphia’s premier 60’s soul/motown ensemble The York Street Hustle since 2012. She is one of the lead singers as well as backup vocalists, performing songs from Aretha Franklin to The Temptations, Betty Everett to Smokey Robinson, paying tribute to the true recordings of this material.
In addition to singing soul, she performs her original material often accompanied by multi-instrumentalist, Nate Gonzalez, with whom she collaborated with in their previous band, papertrees. These songs take an intimate approach to self-discovery, through the influence of jazz, classic soul, and folk music.
You can also find her on stage collaborating with Aaron Parnell Brown singing back-up soulful harmonies with her vocal partner, Imani Roach. Imani and Allison have performed together on many collaborations and in 2015, had the opportunity to perform with Darlene Love, Dawn Robinson, Paul Pesco, and members of Living Colour. With Aaron Brown they shared Mountain Stage with Nels Cline & Julian Lage, opened for Joan Osborne and have toured extensively.
In addition to performance, she has been collaborating with Imani Roach to put together many tribute and benefit shows over the years, and takes pride in organizing events that bring musicians together in both admiration and respect for the artists that have influenced so many before them.
Stay tuned for her upcoming single with Nate Gonzalez coming in late June 2016.
